Add a festive touch to your holiday décor with the timeless beauty of poinsettias. With their vibrant red blooms, these classic plants are perfect for brightening any space during the season.

Please note: poinsettias are mildly toxic to cats and dogs if ingested, so be sure to keep them out of reach of your furry friends while enjoying their holiday charm.

1. Light:
Place your poinsettia in a spot with bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves, and keep it away from drafts or extreme temperature changes.

2. Temperature:
Poinsettias thrive in temperatures between 65–75°F (18–24°C). Keep them away from cold windows, heaters, or air conditioning vents.

3. Watering:
Water when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Remove any decorative foil or ensure there is proper drainage to prevent water from pooling at the bottom, as poinsettias do not like sitting in soggy soil.

4. Humidity:
Poinsettias enjoy moderate humidity. If your home is dry, consider misting the plant lightly or placing a tray of water with pebbles nearby to increase humidity.

5. Fertilizer:
Feed your poinsettia every 4–6 weeks with a balanced, water-soluble houseplant fertilizer. Fertilize only if the plant will be kept beyond the holiday season.

6. Longevity Tips:
To keep your poinsettia looking fresh longer:

  • Avoid exposing it to temperatures below 50°F (10°C) during transport.
  • Handle with care; poinsettias are delicate and can drop leaves if mishandled or stressed.

7. After the Holidays:
If you want to keep your poinsettia year-round, reduce watering in the spring after the leaves fall. Cut back the stems to 4–6 inches tall and move it to a bright location. Resume regular watering and fertilizing when new growth begins.

Important Pet Warning:
Poinsettias are mildly toxic to cats and dogs if ingested, potentially causing mild stomach upset or drooling. Place them safely out of reach to ensure your pets stay safe while you enjoy your festive plant.
